Institutes, colleges and universities offering Information Technology Education Program which comprises BSIT, BSCS, BSIM and others recently gathered together at the University of Mindanao Matina Campus to carry out the first symposium with the main emphasis on the presentation of different theses from different schools in Mindanao. UIC was one of the participating schools, with a number of presenters together with their works bringing the name of the university.
It was a successful event though it was the first one done ever since. I consider it as well prepared and organized. The CDITEs and associated personalities must have prepared it well. The venue where I attended the mentioned event was cozy and the registration fee that I paid for was worth it, not to mention the snacks were good enough for what I paid for.
With regards to the presentation of the projects of the presenters, I found those from the ADDU pretty good. They have unusual projects compared to what we have taking into account the variation of curriculum. Their presentation was also good with their presenters fluently speaking in front not showing any signs of discomfort. Their projects were quite appealing because they were kind of new to me. The projects from the UIC were also good and I praise them for that, I hope we could come up maybe as good as theirs or hopefully better. I also noticed that compared to the those from the ADDU, UIC projects seems to be attached on the business setting, using relative approaches in solving problems while those from the Ateneans focus on the technical aspect. There were also slight differences on the presentation such as the data contents. The presenters from our school were good enough but there were manifestations of mistakes and signs of nervousness showed which is totally normal and understandable when you are talking in front of many audiences where you can feel the weight of their stare. Those from the UP-Mindanao were like introducing us foreign information and systems that are unknown for most of the spectators. They presented nose bleeding formulas and the like which I think are not supposed to be included in the presentation. I didn’t quite get the whole idea and concept about their projects because I was a bit confused and it felt like it was only them who know what it was all about. The proponents from the USEP were I think one of the best presenters because their topic was not that difficult execute and to comprehend and it was explained well. However, I found their works very distant from the other schools because it was only them that uses the research-based projects and the rest have there software like web-based systems and etc.
The occasion was informative in a way that it gave us insights and knowledge on what different schools are up to and it helps us realize and think of different thoughts which could be applicable for our projects that are yet to put into implementation.
